GC-MS based metabolite profiling and antioxidant activity of solvent extracts of Allium chinense G Don leaves

Allium chinense, a main source of “Xiebai” drug in Chinese traditional medicine and commonly known as Ganoderma lucidum belongs to the family Amaryllidaceae. The focus this research was quantify secondary metabolites, antioxidant potential study GC- MS based metabolite profile different solvent leaf extracts A. chinense. reports on bioactive compounds chinense leaves are still insufficient compared bulb; hence carried out understand present using solvents varying polarity. Our investigation showed that ethanol extract contained highest saponin, flavonoid, phenol, DPPH scavenging activity. Further, profiling revealed total forty-eight compounds, indicating diverse range phytochemicals four extracts. number were observed (15) followed by chloroform (13), petroleum ether (11) methanol (9). Some major identified octacosane (27.11%), heptadecane (19.66%), eicosane (18.51%), ethyl palmitate (18.50%), phytol (17.68%) acetate (17.30%). In conclusion, highlights contain high saponins, terpenes alkanes which could be new beneficial drug.
